Copenhagen Sustainable – join the discussion

Located at the Danish Architecture Center, the project CopenhagenX, has since 2002 disseminated knowledge on urban development, building projects, architectural visions and innovations in the Danish capital. Copenhagen X’s goal is to visualize and open people’s eyes to the changes in the city. In line with this, it was obvious, especially because of the COP15 in Copenhagen in December, to create a new subsite providing an overview of the capital’s sustainable development and visions within architecture and urbanism. neighbourhood and journalists, photographers, architects, artists and wondering Copenhageners look at the city’s many recent architectural, urban planning – and design solutions. Along the way, experts, policy makers and citizens will visit The Mobile Editorial Room and offer their views on what works and what could be done better.

The sustainable city, which is the name of the new subsite, is launched during the Copenhagen Design Week 2009 which takes place from 27 August to 6 September. As a special event during this week CopenhagenX in collaboration with Link Up Showcase 2009 has created “The Mobile Editorial Office”.

Link Up Showcase 2009 consists of 15 young architects and designers presenting ideas and visions for a sustainable Copenhagen. They highlight the taken for granted knowledge, which is part of what makes the city by altering, highlighting or creating items that can help make Copenhagen a sustainable city; green, healthy, easy to access and dense.

During the first week of September CopenhagenX sends “The Mobile Editorial Office” out to look at the city in ways we had not thought of before. The Mobile Editorial Office will on a daily basis report on the many interventions implemented, making the city more vibrant, more green, more healthy and more easy to move around in.

Each day the bus moves to a new

All discussions and opinions are posted on the blog www.copenhagenx.dk /blog, launched together with the website ‘the sustainable city’. There will be an open debate and plenty of inspiration for the capital’s sustainable development.

You can find The Mobile Editorial Office live at five different locations in Copenhagen:

Monday 31 / 8: Amager Beach Park – at beach station 5
Tuesday 1 / 9: The square at Nørrebrohallen
Wednesday 2 / 9: Islands Brygge 37 – at the grass next to the playground
Thursday 3 / 9: Town Hall in Frederiksberg
Friday 4 / 9: Halmtorvet

You can also follow and join the debate on www.copenhagenx.dk/blog.

When moving out in town, we want to go behind the buzz-words and big visions and have discussions with citizens and invited guests. Simultaneously, we gather knowledge and views for the creation of a future sustainable Copenhagen “says Christian Hanak, Head of presentation and debate at the Danish Architecture Center and leader of CopenhagenX.
